The US army alpha black tactical, as Tippmann calls it, looks likes the M-16. The new model is an upgraded semi-automatic version of the alpha black model. The stock is adjustable upto six positions and features built in sights. It is heavy and features an 11″ barrel for accuracy and performance. The magazine holder is removable and doubles up as a tool kit. The alpha black tactical has limited customizability.
Like most Tippmann products, the quick release feeder elbow and the e-trigger system are standard with the Tippmann US Army Sniper Gun Set. Die cast aluminum construction makes it durable and easily serviceable, it includes an in-line bolt mechanism and a stainless steel gas line. A 20 oz aluminum carbon dioxide tank, a 6+1 harness, a 200 round hopper, a mask and the marker itself are part of the standard kit.
The long 11″ barrel makes the gun very accurate. The bolt mechanism is in-line type, as in the more advanced 98 custom. The rugged construction and simple internal mechanism makes the marker very reliable. In the semi auto mode the gun fires upto 8 rounds per second. Anti chop technology is absent on this model. It has very limited number of accessories and upgrades.
